Filling a prescription

At a retail pharmacy. Show your health plan ID card at any participating pharmacy. The card carries the numbers the pharmacy needs to send your prescription to Kanurra. Retail fills are up to a 30-day supply. Not sure your pharmacy participates? Call us before you go.

By mail. For medicines you take every month, you can get a 31 to 90-day supply delivered to your home through Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company, our mail order pharmacy. Call us and we’ll set it up with your prescriber.

Specialty drugs. Specialty and injectable drugs need prior authorization and are filled through our specialty pharmacy. Call us, or have your prescriber call, and we’ll coordinate the request and the first fill.

What you pay

Your copays and coinsurance are set by your health plan, not by Kanurra. They are listed in your plan’s Summary of Benefits and Coverage under “If you need drugs to treat your illness or condition.” You never pay more than the drug costs. For what a specific drug will cost you, call us.

Prior authorization

Some drugs need approval before your plan covers them. Your prescriber requests it by calling 888-814-4197, and our pharmacists review it. Urgent requests are decided within 72 hours, and others within 15 days.

If your plan just moved to Kanurra, prior authorizations and step therapy approvals you already had carry over through their original expiration date. You don’t need to start again.

If a request is denied

You’ll get a written notice explaining why and how to appeal. Appeals go to your health plan, and your plan document describes the full process, including independent external review.

Your privacy

Kanurra handles your prescription information as your health plan’s business associate under HIPAA. See our Privacy Policy.
